The old world ended. The Enclaves stayed frozen. Something is still watching.

Aftermath is a top-down action RPG set in a world where entire towns were sealed away in the past and kept there. In the Enclaves, time stopped at a chosen era. Outside the walls, a machine intelligence called G.O.D. rebuilt the rest of life as something stranger.

This demo covers Act 1: Buckeye, a Wild West Enclave where the sheriff still wears a tin star and the Council still meets in a hall. Past its gates, coyotes have started hunting like an army.

What you can do

• Explore 16 hand-built areas: the Crossroads, the Scrublands, the town of Buckeye with its saloon, church, jail, store and warehouse, and the ruins beyond.
• Fight in real time with a revolver and unlockable skills. There is no kill XP. Your skills get better by being used on targets they can actually affect.
• Take on 8 quests, from strays and bounties to a stolen church bell, a crooked card game and a hunt for the creature calling the pack.
• Survive the frontier. Hunger and thirst matter, but only because there is money to buy food and water. Wells give free but poor water, and shops are the efficient way to stay fed.
• Earn a reputation. The Buckeye Council, the Covenant and the Salvage Ring each form an opinion of you. They change what shopkeepers charge you, what they sell you and what people say to you.
• Hear what the old machines say, whether you asked to or not.

About this build

This is a work-in-progress demo of the first act. Every sprite, tile and song is generated by code. Saves are kept in your Windows user folder (%APPDATA%\Aftermath) and may not carry over between versions.

Windows note: the game isn't code-signed yet. If Windows says "protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway.
